Resorbable devices for the Eustachian tube and middle ear.

AbsorbENT Medical is a medical device company founded by a practicing surgeon and a physician-scientist. We are developing resorbable devices that support the Eustachian tube, can deliver medication locally, and then resorb when their work is done.

Focus

Eustachian tube dysfunction

The Eustachian tube equalizes pressure behind the eardrum and drains the middle ear. When it fails to open properly, patients live with ear pressure, muffled hearing and repeated middle-ear problems. Minimally invasive procedures have opened new ways to treat the tube. We are working on what helps the tube keep working afterward.

Targeted

Treat the tube itself

A device placed where the problem is, in the Eustachian tube, rather than only managing symptoms in the middle ear.

Temporary by design

Supports, then resorbs

Made to support the tube for a defined period while it keeps working naturally, then resorb, so no second procedure is planned to remove it.

Physician-led

Built around the procedure

Designed by a practicing surgeon and a physician-scientist with placement, handling and the patient's anatomy in mind from the first prototype.

Devices

One resorbable platform

From a single resorbable polymer platform we are developing devices for the Eustachian tube and middle ear, led by a Eustachian tube stent that supports the tube during recovery. Each device can be made in a standard version or in a version designed to deliver medication locally.

Materials

Resorbable polymers with a long clinical history

Our devices are made from the same family of resorbable polyesters used for decades in absorbable sutures, orthopedic screws and sinus implants. In the body they break down gradually into compounds the body clears naturally.

Why it matters

  • Designed to provide support over a period of weeks, then resorb.
  • Resorption time can be tuned through the polymer grade and blend.
  • The material can carry medication and release it locally.
  • Parts are made in-house to fine tolerances, from prototype to small batch.

For researchers

Custom prototypes in resorbable polymers

We make small, fine-featured parts in resorbable medical polymers for our own devices. We are open to discussing custom prototypes for research groups and device teams working with similar materials.

  • Thin-walled and fine-featured parts
  • Small batches for bench and laboratory work
  • Polymer and blend selection

Research prototypes are for laboratory use only, not for use in people. Projects are taken on by inquiry and under confidentiality.
